Meet the team: Benoît 🚀

Meet Benoît

After studying 5 years of Engineering at Ghent University and a postgraduate in AI at Erasmus Brussels University, Benoît was ready to demonstrate he has a mind for solving problems. It was already clear upon receiving his diploma, Benoît wanted to turn data into insights. At a time where Plainsight just left its starting blocks, Benoît crossed its path. They found each other through a shared passion for state-of-the-art technologies, a vision of turning data into value and a personal approach within the organization. Benoît soon started taking on projects, and is now fully equipped and ready to begin his data career. Read more about Benoît’s story here.

We asked Benoît some thoughtful questions.

Benoît, how did you discover your passion for data?

During my engineering masters, I was introduced to a lot of data and programming courses. I ended up enjoying every single one of them. More specifically, I had a course on AI and big data that really fascinated me. The more I learned in this course, the more I wanted to explore the subject further. That was the moment I realized that this was the career path I wanted to pursue. I was fascinated by the endless possibilities that data and AI could offer, and I knew that I wanted to be a part of it. This is why I decided I needed to find a company that shared my passion and ambition in the data and AI field.

Why specifically did you choose Plainsight?

Having worked previously at start-ups as a student, it was for me a no brainer to continue down this path. If you combine this with the technical skills and knowledge in the team, the learning opportunities are enormous for me. If you then add the great atmosphere and passion of the team, the cocktail of perfect ingredients for a company I want to work at is ready.

The company vision aligns with my passion for bridging the gap between business and IT. Plainsight teaches me the latest tools (such as Azure resources and Power BI/Microsoft Fabric) and languages (such as SQL and Python) that help me bring more added value to other companies.

What was your first month at Plainsight like?

I immediately got a warm welcome when entering the building. They helped me set everything up so that I could quickly get started. We sat down together and laid out a plan for me to sharpen my skills before starting on a project. This included choosing the right Microsoft certifications and learning paths. During my learnings in this month, I got a lot of guidance from everyone on the team.

During this month I also liked the way Plainsight works as an organisation. It has a flat structure, which makes it very easy to ask questions to the right person without having to go through multiple people. This also makes me get to know everyone better. The flexibility at Plainsight is also a huge plus for me. Flexible hours and the ability to work from home make it possible for me to have a good work-life balance.

Overall the first month flew by before I even knew it and I am looking forward to what the future brings.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with any historical figure, I would choose Nikola Tesla. Tesla was a brilliant inventor and engineer who made significant contributions to the field of electrical engineering. He was a man ahead of his time, and I think his way of thinking could teach me a lot.

Anxious to know what Plainsight could mean for you?
