Lennert developed a strong passion for providing actionable insights through data while studying Business Engineering at Ghent University. Pursuing a Master’s in Data Analytics was a natural next step for him, as it matched his interest in logical thinking and solving problems in a clear and structured way. He first connected with Plainsight in an interactive setting and quickly realized that joining the team was the right choice. Lennert, how did you discover your passion for data?
Ghent University’s Master’s in Data Analytics played a key role in developing my interest in data. Courses like Big Data, Machine Learning, and Social Media and Web Analytics taught me how to transform data into actionable results, combining practical and theoretical approaches—something I believe is essential for success. These courses also deepened my understanding of artificial intelligence and its growing importance in modern data analysis, reinforcing my passion for leveraging AI to drive insights and innovation. This blend of skills has prepared me to apply data-driven solutions to real-world challenges effectively.
Why did you specifically choose Plainsight?
I chose Plainsight because it offers the perfect environment for starting my career in data analytics. The combination of technical expertise and the team's collaborative spirit creates a unique opportunity for growth and learning. As someone passionate about bridging the gap between business and IT, I was drawn to Plainsight’s vision, which aligns with my own career goals. The chance to work with cutting-edge tools like Azure resources, Power BI, and languages such as SQL and Python, allows me to continuously develop my skills while contributing meaningful value to the companies we support.
What was your first month at Plainsight like?
The first month at Plainsight flew by, and I’ve already felt incredibly supported. From day one, everyone helped me get set up quickly, ensuring I had everything I needed and was always available to answer any questions. Throughout this time, I learned a great deal about tools like Power BI, Databricks, and SQL, while also refreshing my knowledge of various topics.
What stood out to me was how approachable and helpful the team is, creating a comfortable environment where I could easily ask for guidance. The work culture here really resonates with me, especially the openness and support that makes collaboration effortless. I really appreciate the job’s flexibility, as it enables me to maintain a balance between my professional responsibilities and personal life.
Overall, it has been a great start, and I’m excited to see how I continue to grow with Plainsight.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
The most adventurous experience I’ve had was traveling by canoe along the border of Sweden and Norway with friends. Camping and cooking our own meals became part of our daily routine. This adventure significantly helped me become more self-reliant and less dependent on others.
